NARRATION OF THE CONTENT: The story “A SHIPWRECKED SAILOR” is a work of non-fiction by Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It tells the saga of Luis Alejandro Velasco,a twenty year old sailor, who was washed overboard during a storm in the middle of the Carribean sea,clinging to a life raft without food and water.

CREATING RAPPORT Teacher creates a good rapport by engaging in an informal talk with the Students. BRUSHING UP THE PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Teacher creates mental readiness among the students by showing the pictures of transportation and asks the questions and also a picture of titanic ship        ·       Do you like travelling?        ·       Name some means of transportation?        ·       Do you like watching movies?        ·       Try to identify the film? ·       What happened to the ship in the film? CONNECTING WITH THE TOPIC Teacher tells the students that the present lesson consists of theme “Travel” and shows a picture of Luis alejandro velasco.  INTRODUCING THE TOPIC Teacher introduces the author Gabriel Garcia Marquez and writes the title of the lesson on the black board         “A SHIP WRECKED SAILOR”                                         Gabriel garcia marquez  READING BY THE TEACHER Teacher reads the first paragraph with proper stress, intonation and pronunciation. GRABING THE IDEAS  BY THE  STUDENTS Teacher asks the pupils to read the paragraphs silently and put ‘√’ mark when they understand a sentence and ‘X’ mark when they didn't understand a sentence and put ‘!’ mark when they find something interesting. REFLECTING THE PASSAGES IN GROUPS         Teacher asks the students to be in groups and share their ideas and what they found interesting and surprising with their peers. SCAFFOLDING QUESTIONS Teacher asks a few scaffolding questions to the students. Who is the author of the story? what is the title of the story? who is the narrator of the story? what happens to the narrator?         DEALING WITH THE VOCABULARY    Teacher introduces the unfamiliar words from the passage plunged   : fell into water quickly. Abyss    :  hole so deep that it seems to have no bottom. Crates     : large wooden container. Choppy waves : slightly rough waves. TEACHER’S VERSION             Teacher presents a better version of the answer: Gabriel García Márquez, also known as Gabo (March 6, 1927 – April 17, 2014) was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter, and journalist.He was best known for his novels One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967), The Autumn of the Patriarch (1975) and Love in the Time of Cholera (1985).  He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in December 1982.  WRAP UP            Teacher recapitulates the passages taken.
